"The Feast and The Famine" was recorded at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia as a collaboration between The Foo Fighters and Bad Brains. The song starts off with a distorted guitar riff with each of the notes individually picked. Dave Grohl's vocals and the drums come in almost at the same time followed by a choppy rhythm guitar riff. The tension keeps rising until the entire band explodes with the chorus, "Hey man, it was the feast and the famine." This anticipation and release repeats itself throughout the entire song creating a rush of adrenaline.

In the preview, it's shown that the next episode of Sonic Highways will take place in Washington, D.C. The D.C. area is significant to Grohl because it's where he started out as a musician. When talking about the city's music scene, Grohl says, "The message wasn't, 'we were rock stars and we are better than you.' The message was that, 'we're people, and we're all in this together.'" Sonic Highways continues tonight on HBO. Check local listings.

The soundtrack for Sonic Highways can be pre-ordered on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3) and iTunes.
