Indiana folk rockers Houndmouth have shared the first song from their as yet untitled upcoming sophomore album. You can listen to "For No One" above via YouTube.

Singer Matt Myers brings a comfortable warmth with his vocals for this simple acoustic song. There is a slight hint of a Bob Dylan influence in lyrics like, although he tells NPR, "I listened to Dylan a lot early on, then tried my best to swear him off." The ballad is full of unique imagery and clever words that Matt brings alive with the quality of his voice. Echoed vocals in the background give the song a hazy depth, especially when heard through headphones.

In an email interview with NPR, Matt Myers was speaks about the inspiration for the song:

Well, I've grown up a lot since our first record, or at least I like to think I have. For the first time I wanted to sit down, say what I wanted say, and leave it at that. Some of it is playful, some of it is veiled behind layers, some of it is strangely observational. But really it's a personal tune. I think the inspiration falls close to the struggle of figuring out exactly what it means to be a man, let alone an artist.

"For No One" will be available for download tomorrow via Amazon (MP3) and iTunes.
