This week, Yo La Tengo celebrated their 30th year by releasing a reissue of 1993's Painful, titled Extra Painful.
On the record, you will not only find the 11 tracks from the original, but an entire second disc of bonus material as well. This disc features demo and acoustic versions of the songs from Painful, including three previously unreleased versions. One the highlights on the second disc is the live acoustic version of "Big Day Coming." The first release of the album contained two versions of the song, one being more of an ambient opening piece and the other more distorted. The live acoustic version splits the song off in a third direction, sounding more nonchalant and mellow.
