J.Cole released the heartfelt record, "Be Free," a dedication to slain teen, Michael Brown. The song was released on his SoundCloud page back in August but the recent decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson, the man who killed Brown, brings this song back to the forefront.

The grand jury decision not to indict Officer Wilson sent shocked the nation and sparked protests and riots all over America. Nearly after Brown was murdered, Cole traveled to Ferguson to talk to the talk to its citizens and share his opinion on the shooting. In an interview with Complex Magazine, he said, "We came, not for no interviews, we came to talk, listen, and feel goosebumps and love amongst black people because we ain't seen this in our generation."

Cole sings the entire song. There is no rap verse in the song, only melodic verses and excerpts of a Fox 2 News interview Dorian Johnson, Brown's friend. Cole repeatedly sings, "All we wanna do is take the chains off / All we wanna do is break the chains off / All we wanna do is be free / All we wanna do is be free."
