In the wake of the decisions made by grand juries to not indict white police officers for murdering unarmed black men, a string of powerful, emotional, and thoughtful music has come out. Ace Hood has made the latest contribution to this wave of protest songs, called simply "Pain." Check out the YouTube stream and lyrics above. Get the free download on Ace Hood's SoundCloud.

There are so many things I love about this song. I felt that pain when I heard about those decisions, and I feel the pain in this song. picture. Ace Hood addresses real problems and spits the truth. There's an interesting pro-America undercurrent, as he talks ISIS and slips in at the end, "Fuck your complainin' / I seen the look on them babies in Haiti." Another way he opens this up to the big picture is referencing the Robin Williams suicide. Really good stuff.

The production from The Order is also excellent. This is a flavor of post-Yeezus electronic hip-hop full of distortion and hard hitting beats. The handclaps are a gospel element, while the brass synth brings in a sinister element. The space age sonics sound awesome, if you're into that kind of thing.

Ace Hood's next album, Beast of the South, is due out in 2015. For his latest music, from August of this year, check out can download and listen to his mixtape, Body Bag 3.
