The multi-talented John C. Reilly stopped by the NPR offices in Washington, D.C. to perform a few classic folk tunes for NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert series. Watch the full set above.
Performing under the name John Reilly & Friends, the group consists of folk music veterans Tom Brosseau and Becky Stark (aka Lavender Diamond). The band is rounded out by Andru Bemis on banjo and fiddle, as well as Soul Coughing's Sebastian Steinberg on upright bass. They perform in the authentic, old-time tradition of gathering around a single microphone. Always the comedian, Reilly still finds opportunities to make jokes between songs.
John C. Reilly is no stranger to music. In addition to his lead acting role in the biopic parody Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, he also performed as a songwriter and vocalist on the movie's soundtrack, which earned him a Grammy nomination. He also played Amos Hart in the 2002 movie version of Chicago.
A free MP3 audio download of the performance is available over on NPR.org.
