BADBADNOTGOOD is a Canadian trio that have proven themselves with three LPs worth of genre-defying, forward-thinking music. Elements of jazz, soul, instrumental hip hop, R&B and electronica are melted together in a way that is very much their own. As Ghostface Killah was finding mainstream success as an MC, the members of the band were just getting their start in life.
The twenty-somethings of BBNG and Ghost may not look like they have a whole lot in common, but the four musicians clearly have chemistry. This has been displayed in a string of songs leading up to Sour Soul, the collaborative effort that will be released next week.
To hype up the LP, the group dropped "Tone's Rap," a pimpin' anthem where Pretty Toney's opening verse leads way for BADBADNOTGOOD's psychedelic soul. The quartet succeeds in pushing the limits of hip-hop and delivering a sound that is completely unique.
Sour Soul is available for pre-order on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3), BitTorrent and iTunes.
You can download this "Tone's Rap" MP3 for free on Audiomack.
