Hozier released the official music video for "Someone New," the fourth track off of his self titled debut album. Watch above.
The Irish singer-songwriter disguises the forlorn lyrics of the single as an upbeat hook. Hozier is certainly no stranger to obsessively writing about lovers; "Take Me to Church" ascribes supernatural beauty to the subject of his song. But "Someone New" is about a different kind of obsession, one that hinges on finding salvation in anonymous strangers.
Natalie Dormer, of Game of Thrones fame, acts as Hozier's protagonist for the video. She conveys a painful loneliness and longing as she imagines herself in the arms of an array of men and women. She traverses through clubs and dimly lit streets, imagining her would-be trysts, only to arrive home alone. A poignant musical and visual pairing, "Someone New" is a testament to Hozier's artistic merit.
