Austin-based singer-songwriter Emily Wolfe has shared a new song titled "Cigarette Burns" that you can listen to above.

Produced and mixed by Mike McCarthy, the song is a mix of atmospheric guitar riffs, propulsive bass lines, and steady drums. Emily's echoed vocals are soft, but stern. The song's energy really picks up towards the end, bordering on an all-out jam explosion.

In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Wolfe says the friend who inspired the song remains unaware of her association:

It’s interesting, because she used to chain smoke. That’s where the title came from: She was just talking and I was listening for a couple hours, and she was chain smoking and talking about all the things that were going wrong. I was glad to listen, but after a while, it became clear that she was using her problems as a crutch.

"Cigarette Burns" will be available as a digital download beginning April 3. It's available for pre-order through Amazon (MP3).
