Yesterday, the new and improved Charles Hamilton released the music video for "New York Raining," featuring British artist Rita Ora. The track is included on the deluxe edition of the Empire: Original Soundtrack from Season 1 and is the first single from Hamilton's upcoming debut album.

The romantic black-and-white video tackles police brutality. Charles foreshadowed the theme of the video on Ebro in the Morning when he closed out the interview by taking a minute to speak out about social awareness regarding shootings by police officers in the U.S.

Set during the African-American Civil Rights Movement of the '50s and '60s, Hamilton and his love interest stand united along with others in protests and meetings to implement equality and justice. Charles ultimately is arrested and as he remains in the state prison he writes, "We understood the struggle would be dangerous. We did what we had to do." Rita Ora has a chance to show off her striking beauty in the few scenes that she appears to sing the chorus.

“NY Raining” is available on Amazon (MP3). The Charles Hamilton album does not yet have a name or release date.
