On April 20th, Gov't Mule will release Stoned Side Of The Mule, (Vol 1 & 2). The two LP set was recorded live in Philadelphia, PA in 2009 and features the band's interpretations of Rolling Stones hits. Above, you can listen to "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" with Steve Elson on saxophone, one of the tracks on that release.
The band keeps the same grooving rhythm as the original, yet Warren's guitar carries a slightly heavier sound. Steve Elson was a special guest for this tune, and his soulful saxophone playing compliments Warren's electrifying solo. It's an exciting version, and shows Gov't Mule's ability to bring new life to older rock classics.
This release follows a string of other archival releases: Dark Side Of The Mule, Dub Side Of The Mule, and Sco’Mule, which featured the band’s takes on Pink Floyd, reggae, and their collaboration with John Scofield. You can listen to the previously shared "Monkey Man" here on Zumic.
Stoned Side Of The Mule, (Vol 1 & 2) is currently available on Amazon (Vinyl). You can also download the official full concert audio at MuleTracks.com in MP3 and Lossless formats.
