“PARTYNAUSEOUS” – Kendrick Lamar ft Lady Gaga [Leaked Audio Stream]

ZUMIC RATING:

The Kendrick Lamar / Lady Gaga collaboration “PARTYNAUSEOUS” has finally been released, and for those who know the story behind this track, it may be hard to believe it has finally seen the light of day.

Back when Kendrick was working on his sophomore album and soon-to-be classic good kid, m.A.A.d city, this song was slated to be included on the record. At the last second the song was scrapped, due to creative differences cited by Gaga — an issue with Kendrick’s production team making musical changes to Gaga’s performance that she did not agree with. Gaga’s part on the song was later repurposed as a musical interlude during her 2014 ARTPOP tour. Not even released on the deluxe version of good kid, m.A.A.d city, this version of the track was seemingly sent into deep storage, with only vague promises of release by Gaga: “a different time, for a different project.”

On May 20, 2015, however, the track was leaked on SoundCloud, and is now available for streaming above. This version, as opposed to the ARTPOP tour version, the electronic instrumentals are toned down, and the basic hip hop beat is turned up. Fitting in seamlessly with other good kid, m.A.A.d city tracks, the catchy pop hook is followed up by Kendrick fluently articulating his grievances with social issues in the inner city. The only Gaga flair still present on this track is the brief bridge she sings before the last chorus, which is perhaps telling of her reluctance to release the song originally.
