Diane Coffee, pseudonym of Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming, has released the first single from his upcoming album, Everybody's a Good Dog.

"Everyday" is the kind of track that will make you happy. It has fully embraced the joyfulness that was only hinted at in his first record -- My Friend Fish. From its onset, when punchy drums kick off the track, quickly followed by soulful "oohs" and "ahhs," this song will incite spontaneous foot tapping and finger snapping.

It is clear that there is a retro feel to this track, taking cues from the bright, funky, and gospel-influenced rock of the '60s and '70s. The orchestration feels classic as well, as it sticks to basic rock 'n' roll instrumentation and even includes some musical pauses / cadences that feel very old-school.

The wonderful presence of Fleming's voice on this track elevates "Everyday" to something higher than just a retro throwback. With vocal phrases doubled out of time, playfully whispered lines, and his one-of-a-kind timbre, the vocal performances that have always been a highlight of his music make "Everyday" a truly special track.

You can pick up Everybody's a Good Dog, which is set to release September 4, on Amazon.
