Oakland native G-Eazy raps over laid back beats by producer Michael Keenan in "Running," featuring Gabriel Garzón-Montano. The single is one of three songs released by the rapper this week. Eazy announced his plans of dropping new music to fans via his Twitter page:
It's been too damn long... Time for new music and time for everyone to have it

In sync with Eazy's signature low-key style, "Running" reminsces on past times from his hometown in the Bay Area. More specifically, he mentions his time spent in juvie and how it affected him as artist, vocalizing, "And I remember what did move me / Is I was in juvie, never giving fucks, acting unruly / Being away from making music, I understood it then truly."
