Official audio has been released for Bring Me the Horizon's new single, titled "Happy Song," and it's a rocking good time. Listen up via YouTube above.

At first glance, the name of the track, "Happy Song," and Bring Me the Horizon might seem contradictory. After all, this is the British metalcore band that brought us such albums as There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. and Suicide Season as well as sorrowful singles "The Sadness Will Never End" and "Pray for Plagues."

However, the ironic juxtaposition between the band's heavy playing style and the song's subject matter works. The track kicks off with a bizarre cheerleader-esque chant of "S.P.I.R.I.T., spirit, let's hear it," over a jagged guitar riff. Frontman Oliver Sykes' vocals come in gently before exploding into a melodic, rolling chorus.

The song aggressively explores the themes of depression and the therapeutic nature of music. Sykes urges us to remember, in a tone no sane therapist would use, that if we "sing along / a little fucking louder / to a happy song / maybe we’ll forget..."

Bring Me the Horizon recently signed with Columbia records, their first major label. At the time of this article's publication, "Happy Song" stood at number 1 on Billboard's Trending 140 and number 2 on iTunes US Rock Chart, perhaps ushering in a new, more mainstream future for the band.
