Recently, rising soul singer Andra Day stopped by NPR to perform three songs for the Tiny Desk Concert series. NPR has uploaded her full set onto their YouTube channel, which you can watch above.
Kicking off with "Forever Mine," the lead track from her debut studio album, Cheers to the Fall, it's immediately evident that she's got a strong, soulful voice. "Rise Up" is an emotional number highlighted by warm organ, soft acoustic guitar, and soothing harmonies.
Andra ends her set with "Gold," which she admits is autobiographical. Her backing band provides a catchy rhythm while Day's vocals soar with confidence and feeling. This performance only included three songs, but it's enough to get a feel of her strong energy and skillfully crafted songs.
You can pick up Day's debut studio album, Cheers to the Fall, on Amazon (CD, MP3).
It was recently announced that Andra will be joining Leon Bridges during his Spring 2016 tour. For more information about that, as well as her latest music and news, check out her Zumic artist page.
