After teasing fans on their Facebook page with photos and snippits of audio, Coldplay have shared a new single, "Adventure Of A Lifetime." The song is from the band's upcoming album, A Head Full Of Dreams. Listen to it and check out the official music video above, via the band's YouTube.

Frontman Chris Martin spoke with Q Magazine about how the song came about:

I was asking the rest of the band to start something and I’ll see if a song comes out from it, so not everything comes from me. That’s how [Ghost Stories single] "Magic" came about. On this album it happened with "Adventure Of A Lifetime." It came from Jonny [Buckland]’s riff. I was the last person on there.

Written by Coldplay and Norwegian pop producers StarGate, "Adventure Of A Lifetime" is very dance floor friendly. There's a strong disco beat that carries the song, and a hypnotic keyboard riff throughout the chorus. Martin's vocals are energetic and sound as great as ever. It should be interesting to hear if this dance vibe carries into other songs from the new album.

Directed by Mat Whitecross and Imaginarium Studios' Andy Serkis, the CGI video features apes coming across a speaker (with subliminal advertisement courtesy of Bose) playing the song, and they can't help themselves but dance to the upbeat tune.

The directors spoke with Creative Review about how the idea came about:

After a chance meeting with Chris Martin, I was delighted to hear that he often worked with my friend, and director from Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Mat Whitecross, who’d been convincing him that performance capture was the best medium for the next Coldplay video. Within no time at all, we were jumping and climbing around the studio, bringing out our inner apes.

The brief was to capture the spontaneous dancing Chris does on stage, but to use this technology to make it look choreographed – an army of dancers inspired by the band’s movement. Initially we talked about the video taking its look from the surreal imagery from the album sleeve – but on the day the brief completely changed. But that’s not unusual!

Pick up A Head Full Of Dreams on Amazon. It's set for a December 4, 2015 release.
