Los Angeles garage punk band FIDLAR (short for “Fuck It Dog, Life’s A Risk”) shared a music video for their song “Why Generation” earlier today. Watch above.
The music video uses a creative approach through an interactive, emoji-exclusive universe. It starts off with drummer Max Kuehn indulging in a burrito and watching his music video on his iPhone. We are then taken inside his phone into a world composed of emoji houses, streets, animals, and faces that any frequent iPhone user would be familiar with.
Halfway through the music video, the well-known “10% low battery” message comes up, which Max dismisses. At the end of the music video, the band puts on a show. Concert-goers get up on stage and attempt to take a selfie, but the band knocks the phone out of their hands.
“Why Generation” is a stimulating song with grungy vocals, energized drums, and thrilling guitar riffs. While the lyrics may be simple and repetitive, they’re straight forward and consistent.
