Tallahassee rock band Mayday Parade shared the heartbreaking music video for their song, "Letting Go." Watch above.
The track is off of Mayday Parade's fifth and most recent album, Black Lines, which was released October 9, 2015. Frontman Derek Sanders spoke with Albuquerque Journal about the band's evolution and how they explored new horizons while making the record:
I think a lot of it was now we’ve been a band for 10 years and sort of felt like our album before ‘Black Lines,’ our fourth album, ‘Monsters in the Closet,’ we really enjoyed that album and that process, but afterward it seemed like we were maybe too comfortable with what we were doing and almost starting to repeat ourselves in a way...We just kind of figured now it’s time to do something different, and part of that included going with a new producer at a new studio and taking ourselves out of our comfort zone and trying to keep things a little more raw and as close to live-sounding as possible over time try to do something a little bit different, I suppose.
"Letting Go" is an emotional song with gentle acoustic strums, mellow beats, and drifting guitar melodies. The longing music video shows what's left of a farewell celebration then goes on an intergalactic journey.
