On Sunday night, Andra Day appeared at the Moody Theater in Austin to tape a performance for PBS's long-running Austin City Limits TV show. During her set, she dedicated her performance of "Rise Up" to the victims of the tragic nightclub shooting in Orlando, which had happened less than 24 hours earlier.
The room gets emotional as Day delivers the heartfelt lyrics. At the end of the song, she encourages the audience to sing along in unity. Before the performance, Day stated, "We can lift up our voices and our hearts in such a way that their families and the people in Orlando and around the country affected by this will, for a moment at least, feel some type of comfort."
"Rise Up" is included in Day's 2015 album Cheers to the Fall, which is currently available to purchase on Amazon. You can also watch her episode of Austin City Limits when it airs on PBS.
