It's always a special occasion when a band celebrates an anniversary. For New York thrash metal gods Anthrax, they marked their 35th year together by sharing a fan made music video with clips of performances over the decades and live audio of "Antisocial," which was on the 1988 album State of Euphoria. Formed on July 18, 1981, Anthrax would go on to redefine the term "thrash metal" and influence countless other bands in the genre. Put together by Anthrax fan David Taylor, the video captures the energy and excitement of the band playing the track to thousands of screaming fans around the world.
Guitarist and co-founder Scott Ian left a message marking the anniversary on Anthrax's official website:
Thirty-five years have passed since that day and my life has changed profoundly. I am a husband, I am a father. I am a long way from the 17-year-old soon-to-be-college dropout who co-founded a heavy metal band. The only thing that hasn’t changed in 35 years, the one constant, is that I am still the rhythm guitar player in Anthrax. It’s what I GET to do. I GET to play in a band and I never take that for granted.
