On March 10, 2017, a new edition of the Jerry Garcia GarciaLive series will be released through Round Records. Titled GarciaLive Volume Eight, the show was recorded at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 23, 1991. Above, you can listen to the Jerry Garcia Band's take on "Lay Down Sally," which was co-written by Eric Clapton and first released on his 1977 album Slowhand.

On this night, the JGB included Jerry Garcia on vocals and guitar, John Kahn on bass, Dave Kemper on drums, Melvin Seals on keyboards, and vocalists Jackie LaBranch and Gloria Jones. On the Jerry Garcia official website, Melvin Seals shared, "That was the magic band. It’s not that the other scenarios didn’t work out but once we got to that level of the band with (drummer) Dave Kemper, John Kahn, Jerry, myself and the singers, Jackie (LaBranch) and Gloria (Jones) we all knew we had something special. That was the band."

It's a spirited performance with a palpable energy that can be felt through Jerry's guitar playing. Melvin's warm organ and Kahn's fluid bass lines are firmly supported by Kemper's drumming, while Jackie and Gloria's contribution help to give the vocals a full sound.
