Chicago misfits Twin Peaks have released two new songs as part of their Sweet ’17 Singles subscription series. "Shake Your Lonely / Sun and the Trees" is the second double-sided single release thus far, following "Under the Pines" and "Tossing Tears."
Both tunes are low-key and pleasantly warm. "Shake Your Lonely" has an Americana twang and folky vocals, which are uncharacteristically sensitive for the garage rock group. Sounding slightly more resonant with Twin Peak's earlier work, "Sun and the Trees" pairs hazy guitar interplay with mumbled vocals, creating a lo-fi soundscape accentuated unexpectedly by a melodic brass riff. The band requests that you "play it loud, open all the windows, play it for your grandma and your teachers and librarians."
Twin Peaks will be releasing a pair of singles at the beginning of every month until December of 2017. The songs will be available online, but you also have the option to subscribe on the artist's website to get limited collector's edition 7" vinyl pressings of the singles delivered through the mail. Follow Twin Peaks on social media to hear when the subscription series becomes available.
