16 year-old Lorde, whose single "Royals" recently topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, has released her debut album, entitled Pure Heroine, and it's now available on Spotify.

The young sensation from New Zealand (birth name Ella Yelich-O'Connor), is now the youngest woman to ever have a No. 1 on the Alternative chart, in addition to being the first solo female act to top that chart in 17 years. Needless to say, expectations for Pure Heroine are high.

At first listen, "Royals" certainly stands out, but not in the way you'd expect. Lyrically, the track isn't that far off from "We Can't Stop," or "I Love It," or any number of recent hit songs that seem to posit youth as a justification for Spring Breakers- or Bling Ring-esque behavior. That sort of sentiment can't really be found on the rest of Pure Heroine. Instead, songs deal with everyday issues in surprisingly mature ways, and sound like they were written by an intelligent 16 year-old. Imagine that!

Pure Heroine will see its official release on September 30th, and is now available for pre-order on iTunes.
