RJD2 draws sounds from his diverse musical background to produce More Is Than Isn't, his fifth studio album. A musician and music producer, he has worked extensively with hip hop artists including Blueprint, Pigeon John, and DOOM; he continues to work with hip hop artists on this album including STS, Khari Mateen, Aaron Livingston, and once again, Blueprint.
On "Bathwater" featuring P. Blackk, listen for classic funk and soul beats tied in with electronic melodies and overwritten, at points, by P Blackk's hip hop lyrics. "Behold, Numbers!" demonstrates RJD2's skill at balancing disco with chillout ambient music yet spiked with high energy electro-synth sounds.
"Her Majesty's Socialist Request," musically reminiscent of Indian snake charmers, moves to the electronic tune of RJD2s hip-hop influenced beats. The electronica turns more psychedelic on "Dirty Hands," and "Milk Tooth" makes you feel like dancing to its upbeat, Neo Soul rhythms. Overall, the album is instrumental, upbeat, and as experimental as the innovator RJD2.
More Is Than Isn't is available for pre-order now on Amazon. The album will be officially released via RJ Electrical Connections on October 8th.
