Busta Rhymes dropped a music video for his new song "Thank You" today featuring an all-star lineup of Lil Wayne, Q-Tip, and Kanye West. It's a throwback jam with a funky sample from Alicia Myers' 1981 hit "I Want To Thank You." Busta and Q-Tip sound right at home laying down verses on the funky track, as does Kanye on the chorus. Lil Wayne just gives a quick intro, as "the boss" before handing things off. Since this is on Cash Money Records, he may be executive producing the track or in a similar "behind the scenes" role.
This is without question a New York City hip-hop track, with the legendary MCs Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip doing some slick fast rapping. Kanye West's Yeezus tour concerts in Brooklyn brought together some of the biggest names in the industry, and was supposedly the last concert in the history of A Tribe Called Quest. Busta joined the band on-stage for "Scenario" which seemingly spilled over into some recording sessions to make this track. A few of New York City's young guns, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast, and Tristan Wilds, also make cameos in the video, although they're not on the song.
