Tomorrow, longtime friends / collaborators Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip will release a joint mixtape entitled The Abstract & The Dragon. Here's a song called "Butch & Sundance" that will grace the tracklist of that clearly bromance-y release.
This new mixtape references the pair's first collaboration (A Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario") in nearly every way possible, with artwork in the same style as The Low End Theory's cover, a title culled from nicknames that popped up on that album ("Verses from the Abstract," and "Rawr rawr, like a dungeon dragon," respectively), and jazzy beats that could very well be relics from 1991. "Butch & Sundance" does an admirable job of living up to all that nostalgic hype, showcasing adept rapping from both of its stars. It contains no clues as to which rapper is Butch or Cassidy, but we're guessing that Q-Tip's coolly low-key rapping makes him a shoo-in for Paul Newman's role.
Stay tuned for The Abstract & The Dragon in its entirety, and check out Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes' respective Zumic artist pages for more music, videos and news.
