Isaiah Rashad's TDE debut, Cilvia Demo, drops tomorrow after months of anticipation. To celebrate, the young MC has shared a video for "Soliloquy," a short track that will be on the release. Watch the black and white clip above.
Similarly to Danny Brown's intro on his XXX mixtape, "Soliloquy" is the kind of intro track you make if you're a hungry rapper getting your first taste of the big leagues. There's no hook, only one verse, and reference-heavy lyricism that's dense as it is compelling. Rashad is now a labelmate of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, all three of whom handily out-rap most of their commercial peers, and he seems fittingly compelled to push his game to the next level. Fred Claus reference aside, this is no-nonsense rap from a young talent with something to prove.
