As far as television talkshow performances go, this is about as epic as they come. Prince and his backing band 3RDEYEGIRL seem to stretch time and space in this 4 minute performance of "She's Always In My Hair" which was originally released as the B-Side to "Paisley Park" in 1985. Check it out:

The song is a groovalicious rocker, with Prince's guitar playing and vocals taking center stage. This is the logical extension to where the music of people like Jimi Hendrix were going, in the context of '80s funk and R&B. After a couple verse-choruses, he hands things off to 3RDEYEGIRL guitarist Donna who plays a crushing solo. Prince takes a solo after her, showing that he's still got lightning fast chops. Then there's a keyboard led breakdown that leads back into another Prince guitar solo. Another breakdown has the drummer showing that she's also got incredible talent as the song comes to an end and Prince swaggers his way off stage.
As Arsenio says at the end of the performance, "That's Prince, ladies and gentlemen. It doesn't get any better." Also worth noting, the usual ARSENIO icon on the bottom left of the screen is purple instead of its usual red color. Pretty sweet. Prince also debuted a new song called "FUNKNROLL" featuring a funky horn section and closed things out with "Mutiny" backed by The New Power Generation.

The highlight of the show might have been when Prince broke up a couple. This is a segment that needs to be seen to be believed. The girl ends up trying to hook up with the purple one!
Of course, Prince sat down for a rare live interview on TV with his good old friend Arsenio:

The whole show was dedicated to Prince, and he brought special guest Liv Warfield from his other band, The New Power Generation, to sing a really soulful song a lead vocalist:

Prince also took some questions from the audience during the show, admitting that his biggest pet peeve is when strangers touch his hair. He can get angry when dudes bump into him at parties. When asked what household chores he does, Prince said that he can cook... but only 1 thing... and apparently it isn't pancakes.
