London-based newcomer Ayanna Witter-Johnson stopped by SBTV studios recently to record some acoustic sessions. For her debut SBTV session, she performed her own single, "A Single Sun." Then, just yesterday, the British video-broadcaster released a video of her doing a mash-up of Bastille's "Pompeii" and Jill Scott's "Golden." Watch both performances below.

"A Single Sun" - Ayanna Witter-Johnson on SBTV

"A Single Sun" is from Ayanna's second EP, Black Panther, which is available now on iTunes. She introduces the song by saying that it's about "being a part of the universe and loving each other unconditionally." She starts off singing directly to the camera while she plays the cello, then halfway through the song, she starts playing the piano (while still doing hand-percussion on the cello!). Even as she plays two instruments simultaneously, her voice never loses its beautiful silky tone. Not only does the song have an amazing melody, but its lyrics tell a cautionary tale about caring for yourself and the world around the you. This talented Brit is certainly an artist to look out for in the future.

"Pompeii" + "Golden" - Ayanna Witter-Johnson (Bastille & Jill Scott Mash-Up)

In this session, the multitalented singer-songwriter gives a more solemn performance, as she switches between plucking and strumming on her cello and playing the piano. The mash-up is basically just the chorus of "Golden" mixed in with "Pompeii." But the cello, the piano, and Ayanna's sultry voice are more than enough to satisfy anyone who's craving some soulful tunes.
