Today, New York jamband veterans moe. have released the song “Billy Goat” off their upcoming album No Guts, No Glory, which is set for release on May 27 via Sugar Hill Records. You can listen to the song above.

The nearly ten minute song starts with funky bass slapping from Robert Derhak before the rest of the band joins in. A breakdown tease comes a minute in, then the vocals follow. There are multiple times when the band builds a rising crescendo into the chorus, giving it an anthem-like feel. The meat of the song starts slightly before the 4 minute mark where both Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey go into exploratory terrain on their guitars. They feed off each others solos before the band brings the energy down momentarily, then the jam catapults into a more rock and roll feel. The song is book-ended with Rob Derhak’s signature bass slapping (a signature style of his). "Billy Goat" has all the ingredients of being a face melter when heard live, and moe. fans should be excited to hear it.

moe. played the song live for the first time at Summer Camp 10 in Illinois in 2010. Below is a fan sourced YouTube clip of that performance:
