We last heard from Glasgow indie-pop legends The Vaselines in 2010, when they released their first album since 1989's Dum Dum, entitled Sex With an X. On September 29th, they will release their third album, V For Vaselines, via Rosary Music. You can download and listen to the first single, "One Lost Year," above.
The first single is short, charming and catchy, with a chorus made to stick in your head. The instrumentation takes influence from classic punk as well as the British twee-pop scene.
In a press release, lead vocalist Euguene Kelly said the album was influenced by The Ramones and that he wanted to "write some really short punk rock songs, just get into people's ears straight away, and then get out of there really quickly."
V For Vaselines is available for pre-order at The Vaselines store. For more information on The Vaselines, including news, music and tour dates, check out their website.
