Vancouver's Japandroids have released the title track from their forthcoming album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life, due out January 27. This is their first release since their acclaimed 2012 album, Celebration Rock. Stream it above, courtesy of ANTI- Records on SoundCloud.

Set to rollicking drums and punkish riffs, "Near to the Wild Heart of Life" is an ode to guitarist / vocalist Brian King's recent move from his hometown of Vancouver to Toronto. Represented as a next phase of life, the song has King reminiscing about Vancouver while alluding to a new, darker edge to his persona.

King and drummer Dave Prowse discussed the overall tone of the record in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

I used to take whatever the story was for the song and get rid of all the negative parts... I would just focus on the positive part. This record, I wanted to get away from that and show both sides of the story. You know, kind of show the darkness or the other side that goes along with the really positive aspects.

Near to the Wild Heart of Life is set to be released on January 27, 2017. Pick it up on Kings Road Merch.
