Jimmy displays the A Letter Home box set, with handwritten words on the cover on packing tape. Talking about the new album, Neil says it's all cover songs and "Songs by great songwriters that influenced me growing up." Jack and Neil discuss how they met in Nashville partially due to the fact that they both have electric cars, and it wasn't long after Jack's recording booth was brought to a functional level. Neil ended up recording the entire album in the booth. Louis C.K. stayed on the set for the interview, so the coolness level on the stage was pretty much off the charts.
The performance televised on The Tonight Show was "Crazy" - a song written by a young Willie Nelson for Patsy Cline. Neil performs on guitar in the booth. For the web exclusive song, Neil saddled up to an upright piano and did the bluesy "Since I Met You Baby" by Ivory Joe Hunter. The song and recording have an old western feel, reminding me of the fantastic soundtrack that Neil did for the 1995 movie Dead Man featuring Johnny Depp. There's a haunting quality that Neil has seemingly perfected.
