"Never Be the Same" is the meditative closing track on Ty Dolla $ign's recently-released Beach House EP. Last week, the L.A. crooner shared an official video for the song, directed by Jerome D. and featuring an appearance by TDE's Jay Rock. Watch it above.
The black and white, aspect-ratio-shifting clip finds Dolla $ign strutting around some urban ruins, accompanied in turn by a gang of dudes playing dominos, various attractive women (who, according to Ty, "never look the same") and finally Jay Rock, who closes out the track with a great verse. Musically, "Never Be the Same" evolves throughout its duration, beginning as a minimal, synth-heavy slapper before a piano and violin join in, the latter of which evokes Miri Ben-Ari's playing on Kanye West's first two albums. Dolla $ign, who produced this song himself, is carving out quite the interesting sonic niche for himself.
