17-year-old rap prodigy Astro has released a new track, "New New York," which gives a clear-eyed portrait of the city he grew up in and still calls home. On the track, he points to the rise of hipster culture and new developments in his home borough of Brooklyn as signs of changing times, and looks back to the glory days of East Coast hip-hop: "if only this was '92, imagine what the hood would do." Although he wasn't born until 1996, Astro's lyrics are a testament to his knowledge and appreciation of hip-hop's past, and he delivers them with impressive flow. Don't miss this great track from a very promising young artist.
This isn't the first time Astro has shown his love for New York. Check out his guided tour of Brooklyn for an even more in-depth look at the city that inspires him.
