Nine Inch Nails have set 2018 tour dates for North America.
NIN only played a handful of concerts over the past few years after touring heavily in 2013 and 2014 in conjunction with their most recent album Hesitation Marks. Along with the tour announcement, the band also revealed that they have a new album in the works titled Bad Witch with a release date scheduled for June 22.
In 2016, the band said they would be releasing a trilogy of EP's and proceeded to release Not The Actual Events and Add Violence. Over time, that vision changed and this new album will be a full length. In an interview with BBC6 Music last month, Trent Reznor shared (as dictated by a Reddit user):
We started out with a rigid concept, having not written them all. As we finished Add Violence we found ourselves... it felt too predictable. It felt like we were forcing things. Musically and storytelling-wise. The reason this has been delayed is because it took us a while for—what has become the third EP—to reveal itself to us.
The opening act for this tour will be The Jesus and Mary Chain, a hugely influential Scottish alternative rock group whose 2017 album, Damage and Joy, was their first in nearly 20 years. After splitting up in the late '90s, the group reunited in 2007 and has been touring pretty consistently since then.
Scheduled to begin in September and extend into December, Trent Reznor and company will be performing multiple nights in Phoenix, Denver, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, and Los Angeles. These are in addition to each group's previously planned concerts and festival appearances.
