Today the Dallas duo Booty Fade released a remix of Erykah Badu's 1997 hit "On & On." Check it out:
The song is also available as a free download at the Booty Fade Soundcloud page.
For those that don't know Booty Fade, check out their bio from their official website. Here's the abridged version:
In Dallas, a booty fade is more than just a hairstyle; it’s a local staple and a certified homegrown classic with renown that stretches far beyond the city. Booty Fade, the new club music collaboration between Dallas’ DJ Sober and PICNICTYME, is set to occupy a similar place in the city’s cultural pantheon...
A booty fade is a popular haircut, but it’s a Dallas thing,” PICNICTYME says of the business-on-top, party-in-the-back cut. “We’re applying that to ass-shaking music."
The remix is quite different from the original song. The production style here veers modern toward the newest wave of R&B artists like Frank Ocean and also Southern Trap Hip-Hop. The vocal track of fellow Dallas native, Erykah Badu, still sounds beautiful. They did some really interesting stuff with echo / delay effects.
