Apart from getting one of his songs remixed by J Dilla years ago, and remixing a few tracks from Madvillainy himself, Four Tet hasn't really had any recorded fraternization with hip hop. That's why it's somewhat of a shock to see his name turn up in the production credits of a new song by Rome Fortune, an up-and-coming MC from Atlanta. Stream and download their new collaboration, "One Time For," above.

This track begins with huge, '80s-inspired synths, adding a beat peppered with snare rolls as Fortune begins rapping. Four Tet's masterful attention to sonic detail rears its head as "One Time For" progresses -- though its sub-3:30 runtime doesn't give him enough space to evolve the track as much as he would on one of his lengthier solo compositions, "One Time For" still morphs far more than your average hip hop song. Fortune, who's received praise for his pair of Beautiful Pimp mixtapes, spits with a casual-but-practiced tone that has very little in common with most of his peers in Atlanta. It seems like Four Tet and Rome Fortune are an unlikely match that's nonetheless made in heaven.
