As part of our continuing ReverbNation contest, we've selected garage folk rock band Lonely Horse as this week's winners. Listen to their song "Oranges" above.

The track is featured on last year's home-recorded EP, My Desert Son. They will be putting out a two-part full length album this August entitled My Desert Son Part 2, dedicated to singer Nick Long's son.

The duo, named after Long's Native American name, have the chops to play in the big leagues. Their sound is characterized by heavy, bluesy, Black Keys-like guitar riffs and vocals that could be a cross between Dan Aeurbach and Muse's Matthew Bellamy. The nearly eight-minute-long track changes course a couple times with a drawn-out guitar solo and a breakdown that gives way to a build-up and drop-off ending. Like most of their tunes, it's emotionally charged, relying heavily on powerful vocals as the center of attention.

Submissions are still being accepted through ReverbNation -- winners will be be featured here on Zumic. For more music from Lonely Horse, check out their ReverbNation profile. You can also download My Desert Son via the band's Bandcamp.
