Something special happened at Paul McCartney's concert in Seattle on Friday July 19th 2013 at Safeco Field. Sir Paul found himself "in the middle of a Nirvana Reunion!" as Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear took the stage to play 6 songs during the encore. Check out this fan recorded YouTube video:

After the introductions, they go in with "Cut Me Some Slack" with Dave Grohl on drums and Paul McCartney on his unique resonator electric ukelele. This is a song that was originally recorded as part of Dave Grohl's documentary Sound City which was released early in 2013. Then McCartney slides over to bass and Grohl picks up a Les Paul for a stirring rendition of the Beatles classic "Get Back."

The video above jumps from "Get Back" to "Helter Skelter," which took place during the 2nd encore. "Helter Skelter" is of course a White Album classic and one of the first songs in the history of modern music with a punk vibe. An absolute mind-blowing piece of Paul McCartney's catalog, and the perfect song to play with the remaining members of Nirvana. Dave Grohl can be seen really rocking out, head-banging with hair all over the place. If only Kurt could have been there. Then another jump in the video, and we see "The End" which was the final song of the evening. As the fireworks go off and Paul says, "We'll see you next time!" I'm getting goosebumps. Wow.

In the video below, we see Paul McCartney, his band, and the Nirvana members playing Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally" with Grohl bashing away on drums during the first encore:

Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll!
