Primus' third album takes a decidedly darker tone compared to their previous releases. The strangeness is still there, but the songs cover topics such as suicide, murder, and loneliness. The thundering bass in "My Name is Mud," the haunting bowed upright bass and wildly distorted guitar in "Mr. Krinkle," and the echoing solitude of "The Pressman," are only a few examples of the dark themes of Pork Soda.
