Andrew Bird premiered a new single today titled "Pulaski at Night" as an announcement for his upcoming EP, I Want to See Pulaski at Night. Due out in the US on November 12th and worldwide on the 19th, I Want to See Pulaski at Night will feature seven new songs, six of which are brand new instrumental pieces.
"Pulaski at Night" is a mellow, violin-driven melody, accented with quiet, plucked notes. Bird's voice haunts the recording, with a smooth tone that flows as well as the soft, sighing violin. The lyrics are a love letter about starting over in Chicago, Bird's "City of Lights" and hometown. The song's warm tone echoes into a background of silence, giving the whole piece a nocturnal sound, fitting the title perfectly.
