On September 4, 2015, Showtime will present a new documentary titled Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church that will discuss the Atlanta International Pop Festival and Jimi Hendrix's set from July 4, 1970. Above, you can watch a clip of the band's fierce performance of "Purple Haze" from that night.

Performing with Jimi on this night was bassist Billy Cox and drummer Mitch Mitchell. An estimated 300,000 people were in attendance that night to witness one of music's greatest guitarists play one of his biggest hits. As it turns out, Hendrix would pass away a little over two months after this concert.

Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church will be released as a DVD / Blu-Ray on October 30, 2015, available at Amazon.

The live album of Jimi Hendrix's Atlanta International Pop Festival complete performance will be released on August 28, 2015, titled Freedom: Atlanta Pop Festival. You can pick up the 4CD / 2LP set on Amazon (Vinyl, CD, MP3).
