Bristish born DJ/Producer Mat Zo recently got one of the biggest surpises of his life thus far. He has been working on his newest release, "Pyramid Scheme" for almost 2 years now, and had been dealing with the issues of trying to get a sample from Public Enemy's "Can I Get a Witness" cleared. During this process, Chuck D himself stopped by not only to help move things along, but to record vocals for the track instead.
Here is what Mat Zo had to say about the experience to Rolling Stone:
"I'm a massive hip-hop fan, so this was a big moment for me. I'd always wanted to work with a great hip-hop artist, and Chuck D is definitely one of the greatest"
"Pyramid Scheme", with its bouncy beat and fresh, punching synths, definitely does Chuck D justice. The euphoric build adds a really interesting twist with the bright, electro heavy drop and fits perfectly under the "Rock the funky beat" vocal. "Pyramid Scheme" is out August 13th via Astralwerks/Anjunabeats.
