Quilt are an up-and-coming psychedelic rock band that originated in Boston, releasing their debut album in 2011. Earlier this year, they released their second album, Held In Splendor, via Mexican Summer Records.
The first song, "Saturday Bride" segues seamlessly into "Eye Of The Pearl" as Anna Fox Rochinski rocks out on guitar. Host Cheryl Waters talks with the band about how they came together (in art school), and how they've written songs largely through jamming although their most recent album was written a little differently as they brought parts in independently. They've also been experimenting with some new instruments.
The dreamy textures of the band can be quite elaborate. There are multi-part vocal harmonies, and lots of processing on the guitars. Shane Butler and Anna Rochinski trade lead vocal duties, as drummer John Andrews provides great background vocals. The 16 minute performance goes too quickly. We'll be sure to post more of Quilt's music soon here on Zumic.
