Back in February, Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli released the video to his song "Rare Portraits." It was featured on his latest album, Gravitas, which was released digitally in December of last year but physically in February 2014.
Kweli takes us on a trip down memory lane with this record. He reminisces on his early years in the rap industry rapping about those who influenced him as well as the rappers who came after him. He mentions rap royalty such as A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Jay Z, Ice Cube, 2Pac, Biggie, Big Pun, Big L, and Kanye West, as well as newcomers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. The video features Talib backstage at one of his shows taking a long walk to the stage (similar to Lupe Fiasco's video for "The Show Goes On”). It also features various clips of his previous videos, shows, and early works of his career.
