Philly-based band The War on Drugs have just announced a new album, entitled Lost in the Dream, and shared album track "Red Eyes" with us. Listen above.

From the first few listens, "Red Eyes" sounds like a synthy update on Springsteen's wide-open-spaces take on '80s rock music, functioning somewhat like a much more dignified version of The Killers' Sam's Town. Unlike Brandon Flowers and Co.'s epic ambitions on that album, The War on Drugs seem much more content for rambling jams, quirky instrumental passages and even occasional guitar noodling. They sound like they're on the move, but are in no hurry to reach their destination.

In a recent interview with The Line of Best Fit, TWOD frontman Adam Granduciel explained the road-weariness audible across Lost in the Dream, citing the end of a lengthy tour, "confusion, and unhappiness, and depression" as his primary sources of inspiration for the album. He also name-dropped "late period Dylan," calling it "some of my favorite shit" and revealing that it's "all I’ve been listening to for the last year." Read the full interview here.
