Faux-punk queen Avril Lavigne is preparing for the release of her upcoming fifth studio album. Her newest single, "Rock N Roll," is a carefully crafted pop song, masquerading as a rock song about how much of an independently-minded rocker she still is. According to Idolator, this particular song boasts no less than five writers, including her new husband and murderer of good taste, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, as well as members of Evanescence and The Cardigans. So it's got a few people who know how to make hits involved in it. While Lavigne's image is that of a rocker who made it into the pop market and wants everyone to know how different she is, it's just pop. It's not the worst pop, but let's not pretend it's anything else.
Her upcoming album has no release date yet, but when it arrives we can be certain that Hot Topic will be thrilled with the huge amount of money it stands to make.
