Yesterday, electronic duo Phantogram debuted "Run Run Blood," the second track released in anticipation of their upcoming album Three. Check it out above on YouTube.

Compared to Three's lead single, last month's "You Don't Get Me High Anymore," "Run Run Blood" is darker and more experimental. The track's trip-hop groove is grounded in a buzzing synth and a heavy bassline on the chorus. Phantogram's two vocalists combine the ominous, chanted verses with soaring hooks, and the whole song features somewhat disconcerting lyrics, like "Drink away all of your memories / Say goodbye to your family."

Phantogram are no doubt expanding their boundaries, and judging by "Run Run Blood," the experimentation may bode well for their upcoming third album. The track is effortlessly cool: it complicates a classic pop hook with just the right amount of darkness.

Three is set to be released on October 7, 2016. Pick up the record on Amazon.
